ABOUT THE ROLE

Purpose

The purpose of the job is to provide portion cutting and fabrication of seafood for delivery to our customers.  The seafood facility is operational Sunday-Friday, 6am to 9pm. This full-time permanent role offers 8-hour shifts in that range.

Responsibilities

  • Handle and cut seafood products (pin-boning and filleting) – we can teach you!!
  • Manage placement of seafood into a bi-valve tank.
  • Repack meat, cheese and seafood as ordered.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times.
  • Ensure the minimization of unnecessary waste and damage.
  • Clean as directed – proper cleaning and sanitizing of miscellaneous parts / equipment prior to / end of shift shut down.
  • Ensure that any equipment being used is safe to operate at all times.
  • Participate in monthly inventory as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all Safety, Legislation, and Sysco policies.
  • Participate in various meetings (shift, departmental, company and safety).
  • Adhere to all safety requirements and wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment required by the job
  • Comply with workplace health and safety, and other local, Provincial and Federal regulations
  • Adhere to Organization and the Facilities Department policies and procedures including appropriate attire, grooming and attendance
  • Interact effectively, build relationships, and demonstrate a high level of cooperation
  • Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
  • Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.
  • Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Education

    • High School diploma or general education degree (GED);

    Experience

    • Experience in a fast-paced processing/ production environment an asset
